JWcarts is a volunteer-run tool for scheduling cart shifts. This page says plainly what it collects, why, who can see it, and how to have it removed.
What we collect and why
Every piece of information JWcarts holds about you is listed below, with what it is used for. There is nothing else.
Received from Google when you sign in
| What we collect | What it is used for |
|---|---|
| Email address on your Google account | Identifies your account, and is the address we send shift emails to. |
| Name on your Google account | Fills in your display name when you first join, so you do not have to type it. |
| Google account ID (the identifier Google uses for you, sometimes called the subject ID) | Links each sign-in to the same JWcarts account. We never receive or see your Google password. |
Held in JWcarts
| What we collect | What it is used for |
|---|---|
| Display name | Shown to publishers signed up for the same shift, so they know who they are serving with. |
| Phone number (optional) | Shown to publishers signed up for the same shift, so they can reach you about that shift. |
| Preferred language | Sets the language of the app and of your emails. |
| Congregation membership | Determines which locations and which days you are able to sign up for. |
| Role and approval status | Controls whether you can sign up yet, and whether you can approve or manage others. |
| Shift signups and cancellations | Builds the schedule, and lets the people on a shift see who else is coming. |
| Email notification preference | Records whether you want emails about your shifts. You can turn them off at any time. |
Who can see what
Your display name and phone number are visible to other publishers signed up at the same location. This is deliberate — it is how you reach the person you are serving with.
Overseers and administrators can see the roster for their own congregation, including whether an account is active.
Nobody outside the congregations that share your location sees anything.
Sharing and transfer
We do not sell, share, or transfer your information — including anything received from Google — to any third party, except to the service providers listed below, who process it only on our behalf and only to keep JWcarts running. We do not transfer it for advertising, for building profiles, for training models, or for credit assessment.
The one exception is where we are required to by law.
Services we rely on
Running the app means using a few outside services. Each one receives only what it needs to do its job, and acts only on our instructions.
- Google — sign-in. Google confirms who you are; we never see your password.
- Supabase — hosts the database, handles accounts, and stores the setup photo for a location.
- Vercel — hosts the website.
- MailWain — delivers email.
- Map provider - the static map picture for a location. Our server fetches it once when coordinates are saved and stores the image; your browser only ever asks us for it, so the map provider is never told that you looked at a page.
Google API Services User Data Policy
JWcarts' use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
In plain terms: the only thing we ask Google for is enough to sign you in and know which account you are. We do not read your Gmail, your Drive, your Calendar, or your Contacts, and we never ask for permission to.
What we do not do
- No advertising.
- No analytics or tracking scripts.
- We do not sell, rent, or hand your information to anyone for their own purposes.
- Nothing here is commercial. Nobody is paid and nothing is monetised.
Cookies
We use only the cookies required to keep you signed in and to remember the language you chose. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
We email you about your own shifts: confirmations, reminders, and when a seat opens up on a shift near you. You can turn these off in your profile at any time. We never send marketing email, because there is nothing to market.
How long we keep it
While your account is active, we keep your profile so the schedule works. There is no automatic expiry.
Ask an administrator and your account is deleted: you can no longer sign in, and your email address, phone number and language preference are removed.
Your DISPLAY NAME is kept on the shifts you served, and those signup records stay. That is deliberate. The schedule is a shared record of who covered what, and replacing a name with a blank would take that away from the people you served alongside. What is removed is every way to contact you and every way to sign in as you.
The same address can be invited again later. That produces a completely new account and profile, unconnected to the old one.
Deleting your JWcarts profile does not touch your Google account. To review or revoke JWcarts' access on Google's side, use your Google account's third-party access settings.
